  Biography

  I received my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and have been (and continue to be) a staff scientist with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's Network Research Group for many years. I began at the networking group group of the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in 1999.

  • Two of my main active research projects are Bro and CCIED (the NSF-sponsored Collaborative Center for Internet Epidemiology and Defenses, a joint effort with UC San Diego). Much of the current emphasis of CCIED is on botnets and Internet worms, including our network telescope project. A significant milestone of one of my earlier projects was the public release of enterprise header traces: anonymized packet headers of traffic recorded inside LBNL.
  • My professional activities include:
    Program committee member for USENIX Security 2009, LEET '09, Workshop on GENI and Security, and Passive and Active Measurements 2009.
