If we put auto-tunneling in the hosts, we will have a Pointcast situation
all over again. Which is, a lot of duplicate data going over the same
links. Which is no different than mulit-unicast. And we make no progress.
You don't want to make networking easy for PC users, you want to make
applications easy to use. The network plumbing should be done by skilled
professionals, which means they are more likely to deploy tunnels correctly
or not at all.
